‘Manifestation’ by Leah Muncy

Manifestation

There is no other future, is one thought
to avoid insanity. I think untruths all the time.
The house in California won’t catch fire, stained-glass
skylights everywhere will stop leaking rain; it’s almost
summer. It’s almost summer. I will get up out of this chair
and find your salt-crusted boots where you left
them, the left one split
at the arch;                              they will be in the backyard.
