‘Morning Paper’ by Narges Anzali

Morning Paper

We          send  each  other
Notices                of             the          world                     ending.
We          send  each  other notices                       of
The   flesh  shaken                      like   a                    puzzle
Box. Where                      does  the             child end?
Where                  does  the             mother             begin?                  I
Want you   in  the          produce              aisle,
On           the          walk  to                my    apartment   through
The   concrete                  the          pigeons               pretend
Isn’t                       theirs.                 I                want you
In             the          heat, shirt  sticking     to
My           back.                     We          send  each  other notices
Of            the    world       ending.                As           if
The   articles                   can         say         look
I                need  you. It’s scary out            there.
