‘to the one who isn’t ready to be loved’ by AJ Rio-Glick

to the one who isn’t ready to be loved

hi i love you so much
i am bursting out of my own chest
to run over and love love you
to smooth my hands down the back of your
neck, part your hair, kiss the edge of you.
i love you and always have, so / i sit silently
to see when you will open up your heart to
me. let me be clumsy so you know you’ll
never be too much. let me be steadfast so
you know i’ll never waver. let me smile at
you from across the room so you know i am
so joyed to see you in this moment and this
moment and this moment. let me reach out
my hand so you can take it. let me look out
at the sky while i stand next to you. let me
call you at 11:32 because i am thinking of
you. let me hear your voice on the other end
of the phone. let me hold you as you fall
asleep. let me get used to your eyebrows. let
me tell you i miss you, i miss you, i miss you.
let me love you because i already do. open,
please open, and see me there at the door,
singing.
