‘i usually lie in these kinds of poems’ by Jaden Bleier

i usually lie in these kinds of poems

but i’ve seen the sunrise
every morning this week.

it snowed yesterday,
and you walked through it.

how quickly my glasses fog
waiting at the bus stop.

you laugh at the small clouds
over my eyes.

i can hear your heartbeat
in the early dawn.

your breath fades
into the evening air,
and you call attention
to the dispersing.

i’m not making things up
the way i’ve done before.

we walk in the rain
like fools in love
with our own misery.

you call me silly
and i kiss you
in the dark.

it’s all true.
