‘i don’t know what it’s called’ by Sarah Karowski

i don’t know what it’s called

when i want to hold your hand all
the time. do i want to feel you inside

me? or within—radiate out like
sunshine, like a late summer day

that turns my air-conditioned skin
goose-pimpled. like a deep

breath that begs for more:
a reminder that oxygen feels so

good when seeped through alveoli.
when the body works as it should

a tingle can feel powerful. & when i focus
on you, everything is warmer.

i want to kiss you. let the UV bathe
us until we are so flushed

we’ve forgotten what
else we were made for.
