Fay L. Loomis was a nemophilist (haunter of the woods) until her hikes in upstate New York were abruptly ended by a stroke. A member of the Stone Ridge Library Writers and Rats Ass Review Workshop, her writing is published in a variety of venues, including five poetry anthologies.
Threaded Love
Mother Earth shakes featherbed
gentles snow feathers to earth
kindles memories of cold winter nights
feathery mound swaddles body
heated brick warms feet
love threads across time
Handful of Gifts
I gather acorns
and mushrooms
for you
you gather leaves
and dried flowers
for me
we nestle
on meadow grass
at forest edge
hands spill
with gifts
bind our love
