New Year’s Eve
This is what it means to love god:
Paint a lipstick heart on your face
Adorn yourself with a scarlet boa,
leopardskin pillbox hat,
and a red dead poet pin.
Dog’s ashes in the right pocket
poems in the left
Walk the boundaries of love
until someone invites you in for bread and soup.
Butter melts in the cracks.
You barely need the honey.
