‘A painful truth’ by Vicki Liu

A painful truth

is that I never abandoned anything. I have
it all. Salt and spare tires, the husk of worm

on the sidewalk and that one traumatic
incident that happened at the public pool.
I get older but

look the same, take vitamins and pay more
attention to the trees.
