The Fury of End, The Flame of Begin

Everyone here is rushing
to the end
to get it done before
some predetermined time
when something disastrous
will happen
get it done before
it all crumbles down
and is pulled apart
thread by thread
get it done before
brick loosens from brick
and cracked open streets
devour trees and taxis
everyone is rushing to
get it done before the end
scribbling the past page
writing the coda to the song
putting out the fire
so the embers no longer smoke
everyone here is rushing to the end
I too am rushing
feet flying
hands fumbling in haste
match in hand
looking for what will be left
to ignite the spark
and start the fires
of life, of living
and dreaming again
