‘Plunge’ by Mykki Rios

holding hands, under the table
frog eggs sequestered
beneath a lily pad

we are in love, quietly
the way clear water slips
over smooth stone

asked what you’ve been up to
you evade, spin the soft metal ring
on my finger round and round
