‘still lives’ by Dilys Wyndham Thomas

still lives

            but
trapped behind glass
the memory wraps tight
against the chest
where
into a corner, forgotten
hours are swept
            away
we had to walk
hand in icy hand
until
we found ourselves in
the woods
never out of
            breath by breath
love
in only nine months
left us
you
